Med School Hell

I found out about Hoover’s Med School Hell in 2010, when I first started medical school. Whenever I felt sick of studying, frustrated at all the bull, or just plain tired, I visited his site for a laugh.

As I got deeper and deeper into medical school, I realized how much the whole healthcare system sucks hairy butt! Underneath the humor lies a truth that you can only understand if you’ve gone through the crap yourself.

Sometime in early 2014, Med School Hell went down. Thus, I’m reproducing the gems on my site so future medical students can fully know the depths of hell they’re signing up for.

  1. Usmle has ruined my life. I spent over a decade and a half on this journey filled with empty promises of residency. All this while spending thousands of dollars on retakes, and living like a hermit in my parents’ basement. For what? Residency that’s not guaranteed afterwards? Well, I exceeded my attempts, and I have to start over again…all over again… and I don’t even know what I want to do. I’m still despondent, and it feels as though I’m the only one going through this. Thanks for writing this. Btw, the prices for the exams have increased, step 3 is 2 exams, and there is an expiration on passed exams if you don’t complete step 3 within 5-7 years.
